Connect your
Open Dental.
Open Settings → Integration
From the bottom tab bar tap Settings, then Integration. You'll see Practice Management showing Not connected. Tap it.
Pick Open Dental
A sheet opens with Open Dental (live today), Dentrix, and Eaglesoft (coming soon). Tap the green Generate my unique key button.
Copy the key
DentBooks generates a one-of-a-kind API key for your practice. Tap Copy to put it on your clipboard. Keep this DentBooks screen open — you'll come back to it in step 7.
In Open Dental: Setup → Advanced Setup → API
Switch to your Open Dental client on the office computer. From the top menu, choose Setup → Advanced Setup → API. The API Setup dialog opens.
Click Add Key
The API Setup dialog shows an empty API Keys table. Check the Enabled box at the top, then click Add Key at the bottom-left.
Paste your key and click OK
A smaller Assign API Key dialog opens. Paste the key from step 3 into the Enter API key field and click OK. Back in the API Setup dialog, check the row's Enabled column, then click Save.
Back in DentBooks: Test connection
Return to DentBooks. Tick I added the key in Open Dental and checked Enabled, then tap Test connection. On success, DentBooks starts backfilling your last 12 months automatically.
