About

Financial clarity for veterinary practices

We believe veterinary practice owners deserve the same financial clarity that Fortune 500 companies demand — without the consulting fees, and without forcing you to change the software you already run.

Mission

Why VetBooks exists

Veterinarians spend years training to deliver excellent care. They don't spend years training to interpret financial statements, reconcile vendor spend, or untangle payroll from owner draws. The gap between clinical excellence and financial clarity is where VetBooks lives.

We built DentBooks first — a financial clarity dashboard for solo dental practices. Dentists told us it gave them clean books without the bookkeeping. Veterinary owners kept asking for the same thing. So we forked the engine, stripped out the dental-specific pieces, and rebuilt it for vet clinics from the ground up: bank-connected, no PMS required, $25 a month, clear books.

VetBooks is in early access for the first veterinary clinics. We’re onboarding new practices personally — one walkthrough at a time, so we can hear what works and what we missed.

Approach

How we build

Four principles that shape every decision — from the data model to the dashboard copy a veterinarian reads between appointments.

1

Real numbers, no jargon

Plain-language copy throughout. No "actionable intelligence" buzzwords, no MBA-speak.

2

Built with practicing veterinarians

Real-customer-led design. Every feature ships after veterinarian feedback — not before.

3

Pet health data stays in your PMS

VetBooks reads your bank. Pet medical records never enter our system — no patient names, no chart notes, no diagnoses. Your clinical data stays where it belongs.

4

One dashboard, not five

Bank, P&L, vendor spend, payroll, owner takehome — all in a single view. Mobile-first so you can check it between appointments.

Integration roadmap

PMS integrations — on the roadmap

VetBooks v1 is a pure financial dashboard — bank-connected, no practice management software required. PMS integrations are on the roadmap. If one of these matters to your clinic, email us and we’ll prioritize it.

AVImark — coming soon Cornerstone — coming soon ezyVet — coming soon Plaid (bank sync) — live today Stripe (billing) — live today

Most veterinary practices we’ve talked to don’t need PMS integration to get value — the bank-connected financial picture is already a step-change from spreadsheets or quarterly accountant reports. PMS pulls layer on top when they ship.

Customer stories

Coming soon — first vet beta testimonials

We’re onboarding our first veterinary practices now. Real testimonials from real vet owners will land here once they’ve had a few months on the platform. Want to be one of them? Request early access.

Common questions

FAQ

How much does it cost?
$25 a month per clinic, with a 2-month free trial. No setup fees, no per-seat pricing, no tier upsells — one plan, everything included. Book a walkthrough if you want us to show you the dashboard against your own clinic’s numbers before you sign up.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — 2 months free when you subscribe. Plenty of time to see your vendor spend, payroll, and owner takehome numbers play out before billing kicks in. Cancel anytime during the trial and you won’t be charged.
What if I’m not on a practice management system?
Great — VetBooks works as a pure financial dashboard. Connect your business bank account via Plaid and you’re live in about 2 minutes. No PMS required for v1. The bank-connected view alone gives you categorized spend, vendor breakdown, payroll splits, and a real P&L. PMS integrations layer in later when they ship.
What about pet insurance claims?
Optional — nice to have, not required. Most veterinary practices we’ve talked to don’t lean on pet insurance the way human-side practices lean on dental or medical insurance, so we’ve de-prioritized claims integration for v1. If pet insurance reconciliation is core to your workflow, tell us — we’ll move it up the roadmap.
What data do you need?
Read-only access to your business bank account via Plaid. That’s it for v1. No pet records, no chart notes, no PHI of any kind — pet health information stays in your PMS, never in VetBooks. Bank credentials live in Plaid’s vault, not ours.
What about data security?
Every row in our database carries a clinic ownership tag enforced at the database layer (Postgres row-level security). Encrypted at rest, encrypted in transit. Bank credentials live in Plaid’s vault. We deliberately don’t store pet medical records, so the entire surface area of a breach is “categorized bank transactions” — not patient charts.
What if I run a multi-location clinic?
Separate subscriptions per location today — each clinic connects its own bank account and gets its own dashboard. Multi-location consolidation (one parent view across multiple clinics, with per-location drill) is on the roadmap. If this matters to you, let us know and we’ll prioritize it.
What if I want to leave?
Cancel anytime in one click from the billing page. 30-day read-only grace period after cancellation so you can export everything you need. No lock-in, no retention play, no phone calls to a retention team. We expect to earn your $25 every month.
